How do I stop the "Set Up Windows Internet Explorer 8" pop-up???

How do I stop the "Set Up Windows Internet Explorer 8" pop-up???

I've been a happy Windows user since version 3.0. I like Windows. But now I've gone and downloaded IE8. After downloading it, I responded to the selections presented in the "Set Up Windows IE8 pop-up window. I manage six user accounts, so I've become pretty familiar with it. But I don't have time to delve in deeply and learn how to use all these features right now. They may be great features; we are just too busy. So I just want to know one simple thing. HOW DO I GET IE 8 TO STOP INCESSANTLY INTERUPTING ME WITH THE "SET UP WINDOWS IE 8" POP-UP? I thought the original idea of personal computing was that we were supposed to be able to tell the computer what to do; not that the computer should tell us when we need to learn about a particular feature. If I don't hear about how to stop this pretty soon (and I have searched), I'm going to uninstall IE 8.

XP32 > Win7x64 Migrate Settings Data: Chrome+Extn, Outlook+iTunes+App?

How do I migrate these SETTINGS DATA etc so that on the new OS after Application Installation and APP SETTINGS / DATA migration its exactly as before.

I have read individual migration / transfer guides for iTunes as well for Outlook.

One of the the methods for iTunes is seems pretty simple as we gotta just copy the ENTIRE library folder over as defined here.

But this Synch on my Win XP 32 machine:
iPhone 4 (4.2.1 - JB: Apps, Contacts, Calendar) [ iTunes (Apps) Outlook (Contacts + Calendar) ]

The Synch needs to be moved to the new Win 7 x64 machine.. AS IT IS without any information loss (The information chain marked in BOLD)

Does this method also migrate all the iTunes SETTINGS on what parts of Outlook to sync with?

I'd like for the sync to be seamless. Any thoughts on what I should do for that in terms of Outlook + iTunes?

I recently bought a laptop from a colleague with win xp
installed. I mangaged to personalise all the settings and
change the user account from his name into mine. However,
in the 'Documents & Settings' folder, the account user
personal forlder still remains in his name when it should
have changed automatically into mine when I changed the
user account into my name. So altough all my personal
settings in the folder such as 'My fovorites' are those
of mine, the name of the folder is still under his name.

How do I change the name of the personal folder account
from his name into mine? I tried right clicking and
choosing rename, but a warning bax pops up and I'm not
sure if its the right way to do it. Thanks

In Word 2003 how do I change the Normal template?
My Normal page opens up with the cursor at the very top and not 1 inch down like I want.

This is what I have tried but doesn’t work.
1. I open up Word 2003 and a new Normal page appears.
2. I Clicked on FilePage Setup and reset the Margins to Top & Bottom 1” and both sides to 0.5”.
3. I then Clicked on Default and received a message “Do you want to change the default settings for page setup?
4. I clicked on the Yes button that closes Setup.

When I click on New Page - Normal or the New Blank Document Icon on the Menu bar the page that opens has the side margins at the .5 settings but the cursor is at the very Top of the page and not at 1 inch down from the top as previously set.

I have also gone into where my Templates are stored: C:Users***AppDataRoamingMicrosoftTemplatesNo rmal.dot and changed Normal.dot to Normal_Old.dot and restarted Word but I still get the same cursor at the very top location.

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and give me a suggestion on how to correct it?
Thank you. Respectfully, Graphics Guy

Firstly i want to randomly create 20 rows of 6 numbers each (i've used 'randbetween' but some of the numbers are duplicated so how do i stop this? And secondly, when the actual numbers are drawn i want to be able to enter them onto my spreadsheet and have it check the drawn numbers with my 20 rows of numbers and it to tell me how many of the drawn numbers i have on each line? Does that make sense? Any help with this would be much appreciated cos it's doing my head in. Cheers Richie.

Hello.

I have a table of integers ranging from cells B3 to Z51, and I want to find the cell address of the second-largest and third-largest value.

=LARGE(B3:Z51, 2) will give me the second-largest value, but how do I find the cell address where that value is located?

Also, when there is the exact same value in two different cells, I want to be able to find both cell addresses. For example, LARGE(B3:Z51, 3) will find the third-largest value, and LARGE(B3:Z51, 4) will find the fourth-largest value. If those two values are the same, how do I find their corresponding addresses?

See, what I'm doing with this data is the ten highest values will be put in another worksheet as a sort of "top ten list".

The format looks a little something like this:

Date.......Alex.........Becky......Carl........Don
1/1/05.....23...........47..........-29.........21
1/8/05.....-2...........16...........30..........-20 (etc) ...
2/2/05.....30..........-50..........40...........65
2/14/05...14..........-20..........15...........34
...

It goes on like that for a long time. With my Top Ten List, I want to have the value along with the date and the person's name, and the only way I can find the corresponding date or person's name is if I know the cell address.

Please help me!

Hi,

I just got a Microsoft keyboard and mouse. I am able to assign favorite programs to one of five keys on the keyboard for quick launch, but I must know the path of the program. One of the programs I would like to assign to a Favorites key is Word 2007. How do I determine the path of Word 2007 on my computer? What files do I go to?

Thank you.

Question:
How do I fix the Windows blue screen errors?

Answer:
Before fixing a Microsoft Windows blue screen or blue screen of death (BSoD) error you must first identify what type of error it is. Since there are different types of errors.

Note: If you are getting a blue screen error and then your computer immediately reboots without you being able to read the text, follow these steps below. If you can't get into Windows to perform these steps, boot your computer into safe mode.

From the dekstop/start menu right click on my computerClick the properties optionIn the system properties window click the advanced tabIn advanced click the settings button under start up and recoveryIn the start up and recovery window uncheck the automatically restart check boxClick okBlue screen errors
Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista and later versions will have a blue screen error that is similar to the example shown below. Thankfully these error messages often contain more detailed information, and will contain information that can be easily searched for and found. If you are not getting a blue screen error check my thread on fatal errors - (link to come).

Identify the types of blue screen by locating a line containing captial letters with underscores instead of spaces, such as the example above: BAD_POOL_HEADER. Write this information down. If you do not see anything written in all captial letters with underscores like this, skip this step.Get either the STOP: error message at the top of the error, or in the "Technical Information:" portion of the error. For example, in the above error it's STOP: 0x00000019... write the first portion of this message down. Finally, if technical information is shown write down the file and address.
Once you have the above information you can start troubleshooting your issue. Below are some common blue screen errors and links to pages that contains information on how to troubleshoot each error. If you error is not listed below you may wish to search or post on this forum or google to get your answer.

Hey Guy's,

I need some help, i recently built up my machine, (specs in profile) with a 64Gig SSD drive where my OS is on (Win7 Ult 64bit). My OS was loaded at the beginning of April, after the OS was loaded i only had about 33gigs free, so i turned off my Automatic Updates, and thought i would turn it on every now and then, turned it on Tuesday, ran updates, and installed, my space then dropped from 33gigs, to 26gigs, and since the updates ran my P@P downloads is extremely slow, my line speed is 2Mbps capped, so my P2P downloads on Avg was about 200Kbps, now however since the updates ran my P2P downloads are @ max 0.7Kbps, done a Speed test, and it gives me the correct result (1.7Mbps - 2Mbps Download), but my P2P does not seem to agree with that!!!

So basically, my ask is 2 things:

How do i change the download/install location of my Windows Important updates? And would the Security/other windows updates maybe messed up something or some setting on my P2P downloads?

P2P Client is not BitTorrent, but was using uTorrent for the past 2 years, and everything was fine, just tried BitTorrent, to see if it might make a difference. Also, i am downloading something with a whole lot of Seeders and Peers, and when the download begins, it is extremely fast maybe for the 1st 5 Minutes, then it drops down to 0.7(max)Kbps.

I installed sp2 last Friday but before I did, I tried to back up my documents
and settings but it failed. I guess I had a brain fart because I could have
burned them which backup would not allow me to do. I decided that I've never
lost anything before so I installed sp2. Then, I could not load any of my
programs; I think it is because I have McAfee personal firewall. So, I
restarted the computer. After umpteen tries to re-boot my computer, I had to
do a clean install. I lost everything

I am still installing my programs. Windows automatic update is on my
toolbar with the sp2 update. How do I get rid of it?

Hi

I do not have my Xp machine up at present but on Windows 2000 its STARTSettingsTaskbar & Start Menu and then unticking the Show small icons in Start Menu will give you large icons - or ticking it will give you small icons

Hope this helps as I am sure its similar in XP

Thanks Mike, but I was referring to the folders and Start Menu icons
that are smaller from the main Classic Start Menu (hover mouse cursor
over to the right for more menus) like Programs - Accessories.

Hello!

I changed the icon size from 32x32 pixels to 48x48 pixels. I only see
the sizes change in main Start Menu, taskbar icons (not system tray
icons), and desktop.

How can I change the icon size for Start Menu shortcuts and folders? I
am using Windows XP Professioal SP1 (all updates; 1 GB of RAM).

Hi. I set Outlook to startup with the Outlook Today page and the Folder List open. When I right click a folder (e.g. Calendar, Inbox, Task, etc.) on the Folder List and select 'Open in New Window', this always opens the selected folder to a new window about 1/3 the size of the monitor. I then have to click on Maximize, which is my preferred window size. How do I set Outlook so that everytime I 'Open in New Window' a folder, it opens Maximized already?

Windows 7 install freezes every time at the set up windows part of the install.

All the files are installed and the system restarted two or three times, says it is starting windows7 for the 1st time and then begins to ask for my user name and regional settings/ product key info. It will crash anywhere on these screens depending on how fast I try to click through them. and always freezes in the 1st 30 seconds of starting.

I have burned two copies of the disc with the same problem, also got two different versions (7100 and 7232 i believe) burned at 4x, & verified. all four installs on both discs freeze at the same place. The installs are on a clean 300gb sata drive, one tried without a partition, the others with a quick format (1 partition). I triend installing from windows xp and directly from startup on the DVD. I tried booting safe mode, unplugging all unecesary external devices, used ps2 mouse/keyboard, as well. Quite frankly, I'm not sure what to try next and think I'm all out of options.

Anyone got any Ideas?
